Here are some tips on printing Googledocs:
1. Under "Print Settings" (which is found by clicking "File") you can adjust the size of top, bottom, left and right margins. By decreasing the margins you can fit more onto a page, often reducing the number of pages needed for the document. Also under "Print Settings" you can choose "Portrait" or "Landscape", and the paper size. Selecting "A4" should give you a little more space on the page than the default "Letter". Print Settings is also where you can select whether and where to print page numbers. Note that if you have selected "Landscape" in the Googledoc print settings, you also need to select Landscape in your printer options before you print.
2. Under "Insert" you can select "Page Break (for printing)" This will show up as a faint line in your document on the screen. When you print the document, a new page will start just below the Page Break line. To remove a page break from a document, point the cursor on the line, then right click your mouse and choose "delete."
3. If the Print button does not seem to respond, you can go either to Print Settings or Print Preview, both under "File", and print from there.
